Three Individuals Arrested For Honey-Trapping, Impersonating As Girl On Social Media

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The police in Handwara have successfully resolved a case of honey-trapping by arresting three individuals who had been posing as a girl on Facebook to deceive and extort money from victims.

In a statement, the police said that the incident came to light when Vilgam Police Station received a complaint regarding the fraudulent activities. A case (FIR No. 43/2024) was registered, and an investigation was launched.

The arrested individuals, identified as Firdous Ah Tantray, son of Mohd Shafi Tantray, Danish Ah Bhat, son of Gh. Mohd Bhat, and Aaliyan Ah Bhat, son of Ashiq Hussain Bhat, all residents of Dohama Vilgam, were found to be operating a fake Facebook account. The police have seized their mobile phones and taken them into custody, the statement said.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant against social media fraud and advised people not to share personal information with unknown individuals online. — (KIMS)
