Three Hotels Among Illegal Buildings Demolished During The SMC Demolition Campaign In Rajbagh, Adjacent Areas

Srinagar: A number of illegal structures in the Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Gogji Bagh and Wazir Bagh areas of Srinagar were demolished on Wednesday by Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

A law enforcement team, led by the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, accompanied by the Senior Law Enforcement Officer and the relevant SHO from Rajbagh, carried drive early in the morning.

During the drive, all unauthorized constructions were demolished, officials said.

The SMC Commissioner had made it clear that no construction without permission or any deviation, large or small, would be tolerated, the official said. He said he would personally visit neighborhoods to keep check on constructions. After discovering erroneous construction activities, the divisional officer and the building inspector and law enforcement personnel will be held accountable, the official said.

Khurshid Ahmad Municipal Corporation Sanai told the GNS that several structures, including three hotels, had been demolished. He added that three officers, including a ward officer, a building inspector and an enforcement officer, were attached.

The Commissioner warned against illegal construction and said the campaign would continue.

He said that illegal constructions are completely prohibited and that if a violation is found, equipment and machinery would be seized and men working would be treated according to the law. (GNS)
