The Name of sculpture art in Kashmir,Snowber Trumboo
Sculptures are high interceptions of the inner thoughts of an individual.
A range of inner thoughts are portrayed and realized through the casting of Snowber’s work which reflects the inner world. 21-year-old from Srinagar, in a conversation with Aaqib Bhat said that she never felt a need to do anything else, apart from sculpting. Maybe it was what her fate wanted her to do. It is a famous quote by Molana Rumi, let you find love in what you do and think I found my love in my sculptures. I am not from an artistic background; no one in my family has ever tried to do so.
Growing Up in Kashmir valley makes you so, the lack of government jobs and private opportunities; we decide to go the other way. I have always worked for myself and my work is my only companion.
Do we have any future in sculpture art in Kashmir, do we have any Career options? Being honest,we all know that every other art form in Kashmir ends in blind spots. It can be taken as a pastime activity or as a hobby but would one believe if you say that you have chosen it as a career option?
Talking particularly about sculpture as a career option, Sculpting, in general, is the art of making figures from stone, wood, clay when in reality it is an actual academic subject which is learned and practiced like other subjects in universities and colleges all around the world. So this needs to be first clarified and explained among us. What are your plans in the future? Plans! Should be talking about them, plans for me are something whit no reverence. I don’t want to look back once started. The only addition is that I want to help as many people as possible through my work and let them understand what sculpture art really means, especially the people of Kashmir who have it as a gift from God “Those magical hands, I mean”.
What is your answer when most people ask you about your Job profile?
Sculpturing for me is as simple as possible to understand. I neither have tried nor I will try be specify myself in terms of what I do. I believe labeling our self to what we do is restricting our own self to chains. I have been taught to pursue what fulfills my soul, to do what makes me happy at the end of the day. Technically speaking I do 3D sculpture, people don’t know but sculpture is an important form of public art. Would you want to bust a myth about sculpturing? The biggest myth about the sculpturing is that people take it as a hobby or pastime. People around me keep suggesting to me to do something meaningful; at the same time, they say I should use my skills. People don’t see sculpture as a commercial or professional career in Kashmir. How confused and job oriented our mindset has been, I wonder when will we stop thinking that way.
