The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar organized a Lok Adalat
Srinagar, November 22 – The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar successfully organized a Lok Adalat dedicated to consumer cases at the District Court Complex, Mominabad. The initiative, aimed at promoting amicable resolution of disputes, was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman of DLSA Srinagar (Principal District & Sessions Judge), and the supervision of Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
A single bench was constituted to preside over the Lok Adalat, comprising Dr. Farah Deeba, Officiating President of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Srinagar, and Ms. Shabnum Munshi, Member of the Commission.
During the proceedings, 18 cases were taken up, of which 9 were resolved amicably, resulting in a total settlement amount of Rs. 6,220,270. The Lok Adalat exemplifies DLSA Srinagar’s commitment to providing a swift, cost-effective, and efficient platform for resolving consumer disputes, reflecting its mission to ensure equitable access to justice for all.
By organizing such initiatives, DLSA Srinagar continues to play a pivotal role in reducing the burden on conventional courts while fostering a culture of alternative dispute resolution.
