Terror Attacks in Jammu Cast Shadow Over Wedding Season VDG’S Guarding the marriage Ceremonies to avert any Threat

Doda 03 August :Amid The increasing Militant Activities in Doda District of Jammu Province the village Defence Guards are securing Marriage Ceremonies in farflung areas which has witnessed the recent militant attacks.

 

In Gadan village of Doda village defence guards protected the marriage ceremony of Revita Devi and Zail sing(bride and groom)

Three back to back militant attacks were reported in Doda District in the month of July this year which have created chaos across all spheres of society in hilly district Doda.

 

 

 

With the wedding season is in full swing,these attacks have raised significant apprehensions among the civil population especially for those living near forest areas .

 

 

 

In response, the Village Defence Guards (VDG’s) has stepped up, providing strong protection to the community during marriage ceremonies . In Gadan, a farflung village in Doda district had witness the gunfight between militants and army on 9 July when the gunfight broke out between Militants and joint team of security forces in the upper reaches of the district’s Goli-Gadi forest.

 

 

 

This comes a day after five soldiers were killed, and five others injured, in Kathua district, about 200 km away, after a coordinated terror strike on two military trucks carrying at least a dozen troops.

The family member of the bride and groom said that we were feeling unsafe until the armed Village Defence Guards starting guarding our house during the night hours which gave us the feeling of safety.
Senior Village Defence Guard Bharat Singh told ANN news that we are performing our duties in the villages round the clock to protect the community but we are taking more care of marriage ceremonies in the villages near to forest areas which has witnessed militant attacks on security forces in the month of July.

 

 

 

Bharat Singh further stated that we have not been invited by the family of bride or groom but on our own behalf we guarded them during marriage to avert any potential threat as the Village has witnessed encounter on 9 July which still reminds us the threat posed by militants upon security forces and civilians.

 

 

 

However four army jawans were martyred in Doda ok 16 July terror attack and 5 others were injured in desa forests of Doda.
