Terror Attack in Gagangir, Sonmarg: 6 Civilians, Including a Doctor, Killed; TRF Claims Responsibility

 

Gagangir, Sonmarg (Kashmir) – In a tragic and brazen terror attack, six civilians, including a doctor and two officers, have reportedly lost their lives in Gagangir, Sonmarg. The attack, which is said to have been carried out by the Resistance Front (TRF) Terror Outfit .

 

 

 

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the terrorists abandoned an INSAS rifle at the scene, raising suspicions that they may have either fled or are still hiding in the area. A massive search operation has been launched, with Assam Rifles, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoning off the area. Senior police officers, including the Director General of Police (DGP) of J&K and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, have rushed to the spot to personally supervise the ongoing operations.

 

 

 

One of the deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Punjab, while the identities of the other victims are yet to be officially confirmed. Several injured individuals have been rushed to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Kangan, with some of the critically wounded being transferred to SKIMS for urgent care.

 

 

 

The TRF, which claimed responsibility for the attack,

IG Kashmir Zone Police, VK Birdi, arrived at the scene of the attack, while security forces have locked down the surrounding areas in an attempt to locate the attackers.
