Submit proposal, identify land for establishment of two new medical colleges in Handwara, Udhampur: GOI to JK State
Srinagar, July 31: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India on Wednesday asked Jammu and Kashmir government to submit a proposal for the establishment of two more new medical Colleges.
The J&K State as per the order under number HD/plan/50/2019, dated 31-07-2019 has been asked to identify the land for measuring 25 acres (minimum 200 kanals).
The order reads that “Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India during the meeting held on 10th of July 2019 under the chairmanship of Arun Singhal, Additional secretary MoH&FW, GOI at New Delhi has asked the J&K State to submit a proposal for establishment of Two (02) more new medical colleges on the first come first serve basis out of the available kitty of 75 new medical colleges to be established throughout the country.”
“Accordingly, the department as per the guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI) has indentified district Hospital Handwara and District Hospital Udhampur for establishment of new medical college,” the order reads.
The order asked the State to identify the suitable patch of land measuring 25 acres (minimum 200 kanals) within the radius of 10 kms from the existing District Hospital Handwara and Udhampur, which is the first and foremost requirement for establishment of new medical college and submit the revenue papers through Divisional Commissioner Kashmir/Jammu to revenue department for its formal transfer in favour of health and Medical Education Department under intimation to this department on immediate basis.
