Strict restrictions in J&K to curb COVID-19 spread
The vaccination drive for the age group of 18 to 44 years in Jammu and Kashmir has been deferred till at least upto for 15th of May. Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department Atal Dullo said that the drive would start soon after the vaccine supplies are received in the Union Territory.
Advisor Baseer Ahmad Khan has however said that the Union Territory has placed the largest order of 1.25 crores of vaccine doses and the people shouldn’t pay any heed and believe in rumours since the present stock of vaccines for the age group of people above 45 years is sufficiently available.
Meanwhile, as many as 3,532 new COVID cases, 2360 from Kashmir valley and 1172 from Jammu Division besides 30 fatalities were reported in Jammu and Kashmir today.
Advisor to Lietenant Governor Baseer Ahmad Khan while addressing a press conference in Srinagar said that there is no dearth of Oxygen, Covid Vaccines and Remdesivir in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the Union Territory is one of the best places which is effectively managing the prevailing unprecedented covid scenario. He said that 20 Ton Oxygen is available at present which is quite sufficient to meet the demand.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P.K. Pole present on the occasion said that Remdesivir is available in sufficient quantities at SKIMS Soura, SMHS and other hospitals in the Kashmir valley. He said that 111 ventilator beds are presently available in Kashmir and the number of oxygen connected bed capacity is being increased from 1600 to 2500 in the next five days. (AIR)
