Srinagar youth found dead at his apartment in Delhi; family alleges murder

Srinagar: A 27-year-old youth from Baghat area in uptown Srinagar was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at his apartment in New Delhi on Tuesday, his family said.

The youth, Aqif Rashid Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, was putting up at the apartment in Delhi along with at least three of his mates including two from Kashmir.

Aqif was found hanging inside his apartment by one of his acquaintances at around 8 pm on Tuesday after which he contacted his family members currently putting up in New Delhi, his cousin, Irshad Ahmad Bhat told Greater Kashmir.

Irshad, who was among the family members, who brought Aqif’s body from Delhi home on Wednesday, said he bore injury marks on his face and arm making the family suspect a “murder”.

As per Irshad, Aqif’s roommates in New Delhi who were with him a day before are still absconding with the police yet to trace them.

The family has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident to bring truth to the fore.

A police official from Police Station Sadder Barzulla Baghat said that an investigation into the incident is going on.
