Srinagar to Conduct Civil Defence Drill “Operation Shield” on May 31

Srinagar, May 31 : The District Administration Srinagar will hold the 2nd Civil Defence Exercise, codenamed “Operation Shield,” at the Amar Niwas Complex today starting at 5:00 PM.

The drill is part of a district-wide emergency preparedness initiative and will include mock rescue operations and evacuation drills. A blackout drill will also be carried out at 8:00 PM to simulate crisis conditions.

Authorities urge the public not to panic during the drill, as sirens and other unusual activities will be part of the exercise. The aim is to train both residents and the administration to respond effectively during emergencies.

All citizens are requested to cooperate fully, follow official instructions, and stay calm throughout the drill.

Issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the notice highlights that public participation is key to the success of the exercise.(KNS)
