Srinagar Police Urges Responsible Reporting, Warns of Action Against Rumor Spreaders

In view of the prevailing situation, Srinagar Police has issued an advisory urging media organizations, social media users, and the general public to act responsibly while sharing or publishing information on electronic and social media platforms.
Authorities have asked people to refrain from circulating unverified information, speculation, or rumors. The police emphasized that all news and updates should be confirmed through credible and authoritative sources before being disseminated.
According to the advisory, the spread of misinformation or unverified content can create unnecessary panic among the public, disturb law and order, and negatively impact communal harmony.
Srinagar Police also warned that strict legal action will be taken against any individual or organization found spreading rumors or false information under the relevant provisions of law.
The police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with authorities and play their part in maintaining peace, public order, and harmony across the district.
