Srinagar Police Registers Case Under Official Secrets Act for ‘Classified Document Leak’

Srinagar, July 8: Srinagar Police on Monday registered a case under the Official Secrets Act following the leak of a sensitive document detailing reductions and withdrawals in security for various protected persons.
The case has been registered at Police Station Shergari Srinagar vide FIR number 48/2024, said an official.
The police are investigating the source of the leak and have vowed to take strict action against those responsible.
“This incident underscores the importance of safeguarding classified information, particularly when it pertains to national security and the protection of individuals under threat,” said an official.
Authorities have urged the public to refrain from sharing such sensitive information and to report any knowledge of unauthorized disclosures to Police.
