Srinagar, May 17: A Srinagar Court has dismissed the petition of a woman who accused her husband and in-laws of domestic violence.

After hearing counsels for petitioner and respondent, the Court of Second Additional Munsiff Srinagar presided over by Ahtizaz Ahmed said that all witnesses of petitioner are interested witnesses.

“There are few contradictions in the witnesses of the petitioners. Further, all of the witnesses of petitioner are interested witnesses which require further corroboration,” the court said.

Court added that respondents have proved by way of independent witnesses that there was a step of reconciliation taken by the respondents by approaching the Shariah Board.

“It is proved that despite the steps taken by respondent and notices issued by the  Shariah Board, the Petitioner did not appear in the reconciliation  which gives contradicts her claim of making efforts for reconciliation  and as such casts a doubt on the veracity of the accusations made by  her,” Court added.

Court said that no incident of domestic violence has been proved, as such, the petitioner is not entitled to any of the reliefs claimed by her, adding, “the petition is dismissed.  Interim directions, passed earlier, shall stand vacated.”

The respondent was represented by Advocate Mir Naveed Gul.
