Anantnag, May 14 (JKNS): Residents from various areas of South Kashmir have expressed concern over the suspension of direct JKSRTC bus services to Lal Chowk, Srinagar.

They said the buses now stop only at Pantha Chowk, forcing passengers to switch vehicles, which causes inconvenience, especially to patients, students, and office-goers. Anantnag to Lal Chowk SRTC bus service, which once offered ease of travel, has also been affected, causing widespread frustration among daily commuters.

Locals said the practice of running direct buses from South Kashmir districts to Lal Chowk existed earlier and greatly benefited the public. With the service curtailed, patients, students, and others from across South Kashmir are facing significant travel challenges.

Waseem Bhat from Anantnag told JKNS, “Earlier, JKSRTC buses used to go directly to Lal Chowk. Now, everyone is forced to deboard at Pantha Chowk and search for another vehicle. It is difficult for patients and employees alike.”

Bashir Ahmad from Pulwama said the current system is not suitable for common people. “Patients, especially the elderly, suffer the most. They have to wait and change buses just to reach the city centre,” he told JKNS.

The locals have urged the JKSRTC management, the Transport Minister, and the government to immediately resume direct bus services to Lal Chowk for the convenience of the public. (JKNS)
