Sourav Ganguly Will Be Big Factor In Resuming India Vs Pakistan Bilateral Series: Kamran Akmal
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has openly spoken on India-Pakistan cricketing ties. He believes that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly wants to resume the series between India and Pakistan.
Kamran believes that Indian cricketers also want to clash with the Pakistan team, but they do not openly talk about it.
Cricket fans in our country wish that they get a chance to enjoy the match between India and Pakistan.
The match played between these teams is not less than a war, but due to the bitterness between the two countries, the bilateral series has not been held for many years.
Kamran Akmal said on the YouTube channel of journalist Savera Pasha, ‘Sourav Ganguly is the biggest factor who is currently the President of BCCI. He has played many matches against Pakistan and he understands the importance of these matches. He knows how cricket can bring both the countries closer. I think he wants to watch matches between India and Pakistan during his tenure.
Kamran Akmal further said, ‘I know that he (Sourav Ganguly) has such aspiration, I have played a match against him, I believe that he must be thinking so. The players of that era want this, but do not say anything openly because it will become a big issue. Those people are not like us who take the first step.
Kamran Akmal said, ‘The ICC can play an important role in this matter, especially in the case of the World Test Championship, in which we go to India and play and they come to Pakistan and compete. There should not be a neutral venue in this, only then the relations between the two countries will improve.
Expressing disappointment, Kamran Akmal said, ‘This has been going on for 10-12 years. The biggest losers in this are both the countries and their citizens. Whenever we used to go to India, the fans used to shower their love. When India’s tour was in Pakistan, our fans used to welcome them. It was like a festival atmosphere. Apart from India and Pakistan, the whole world used to watch it, this is what we are missing.
There has been no bilateral series between India and Pakistan since 2012-13. The effect of diplomatic relations between the two countries can be clearly seen on cricket. These teams now face each other only during ICC tournaments. The last time India-Pakistan clash was in World Cup 2019.
