Sopore Shuts Against Militant Killing; Educational Institutions, Internet Services Shut

Sopore: A complete shutdown was being observed in Sopore township of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday against the killing of a local militant.

A local militant namely Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi alias Abdullah Bhai from Model Town Sopore was killed in a brief encounter with government forces at Amshipora village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday morning.

All shops, business establishments were closed in Sopore town and traffic movement was also not visible on roads.

As a precautionary measure authorities snapped down internet services in Sopore town.

Meanwhile, all educational institutions including Government and Private remained shut in Sopore town after authorities issued an order to shut educational institutions on Friday as a precautionary measure.
