Solider, civilian injured in ongoing Anantnag encounter
Both stable, undergoing treatment at 92 base hospital Srinagar: Official
Anantnag, Jun 03 : A soldier and a civilian were injured in an ongoing encounter that broke out between militants and government forces at Gawas village of Karan Verinag area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Friday.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of police, Army and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter
The official said during exchange of fire, a soldier and a civilian have received injuries while as the operation is underway in the area.
He identified the injured soldier as Amandeep and injured civilian as Mukhtar Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Mohidin Malik, who has received bullet injury in left thigh.
He further added that both are stable and are undergoing treatment at 92 base hospital Srinagar—(KNO)
