Solar batteries worth lakhs of rupees stolen from Govt schools in Anantnag

Anantnag, Sep 27: Hundreds of solar batteries have been stolen by thieves in different government schools here in District Anantnag.
According to the official sources, 310 solar pannel Batteries worth lacks were stolen by Thieves since 2022 to till date in different Government schools here in District Anantnag,
On 4 September, this year, thieves strike government High school in Batengoo area of Anantnag and stolen 16 Batteries. The batteries of the Solar panels were stolen by Thieves at least 22 government schools including 15 government high schools, 4 Higher secondary’s and 3 Middle schools since 2022 to till date in District Anantnag, official Sources said.
These solar panels were provided under the Government scheme of Samagra Shiksha (SS) through Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) to the government schools for the upgradation of basic infrastructure in government schools.
In year 2022, the thieves strike 7 government schools and theft at least 82 Batteries, in year 2023,160 batteries were stolen in 10 government schools and in current year 2024, 68 Batteries were stolen by Thieves in 5 government schools.
The department has installed these solar panels in 162 Government schools in District Anantnag since 2018 to till date, Among them 22 government schools strike by Thieves since 2022 and were stolen Batteries worth lacks. Sources said
However an official in the CEO department wishing anonymity Said that we have already lodged an FIR’s in concern police stations regarding the theft cases in several government schools in District Anantnag, we request to the police officials to look into the matter and arrest the culprits who have stolen the batteries, he said.
