Snow Claims Another Life On Sadhna Top, Woman Dies On Snow Covered Road

Srinagar: A 75 year old woman died while on way from Kupwara to Karnah at Sadhna Top near Khooni Nalah. Reports said the woman after reaching Kupwara from Srinagar boarded a sumo which on reaching Sadhna Top offloaded the passengers as the road was slippery and had become un-motorable and the woman could not walk on foot from Sadhna Top onwards and succumbed due to dithering cold under the open sky.

Last year eleven people were killed when a snow avalanche hit them and many more incidents claimed several human lives in previous years. People of the area for a very long time have been demanding the construction of the tunnel but the government does not even initiate the process for the construction of the tunnel.
