SMC Dy Mayor Questions Govt For Accommodation And Security Protocol
SRINAGAR: The Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Parvaiz Qadri on Friday questioned the Jammu and Kashmir government for the accommodation and security related issues, which he is facing since 2020 when he was elected in the corporation.
Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Qadri told that the corporation acts are being violated by the estates and security departments of Jammu and Kashmir. Being a protected person I was allotted a 2008 model vehicle (ambassador) that is not road worthy and stopped unexpectedly which could jeopardize my personal security and safety, he said.
He further said that “I wrote many communications to the security department of J-K Police for allotting a suitable bullet proof vehicle instead of the previous condemned vehicle but no response was received till date. “
“I had applied many times for the accommodation from the Estates Department which I am entitled to as per the government laws, but the department refused for the same. Is this how the governance works after abrogation of special status,” he asked.
He said government has provided accommodation to Srinagar based Vice Chairman KVIB Hina Bhat, Mayor Junaid Matoo, Peoples conference Chairman Sajad Lone and other political and social activists, why government is refusing to provide a suitable accommodation which I am entitled as per the government laws adding that I don’t have my personal house in Srinagar thus the government is playing with my safety and security.
Qadri has asked for the intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and new Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta. (KDC)
