Slain SOG Man’s Son Wanders From Pillar To Post To Get A Job From Past 21 Years

Baramulla, Jan 29: From past 21 years, Baramulla family of a slain policeman has been wandering from pillar to post to get their SRO case settled. The documents have gathered dust at Baramulla District Development Commissioners office.

Ali Muhammad Bhat alias Sher-Dil a resident of Sheeri Baramulla went against the tide during the hey days of militancy in 1997 and joined counter insurgent group of Jammu Kashmir Police Special Operations Group. “My father was a militant who surrendered and joined infamous SOG. He was killed in an IED blast in 1998 at Watargam Wagoora. It has been 21 years and yet not a single member of the family was adjusted in the department while the SRO file has gathered dust at DDC office Baramulla,” Tanveer Ahmed, the son of slain cop told CNS.

“My father served India and fought against his own men but yet the State Government or New Delhi didn’t help us. This is not the only tragedy that we have witnessed. We have lost three other members in militancy related incidents,” Tanvir said adding that when government can rehabilitate the family of army soldier Aurangzeib why it can’t help us. “The state government failed us in every respect,” he said.

Tanvir said when he failed to get justice; he decided to take to social media.

Tanvir has tweeted many times about his slain father to attract the attention of the top civil and police brass. ADGP, Munir Khan in response to one of his tweetes assured all possible help to family by saying that: “Certainly necessary steps will be taken.”

“In 1998 my father was martyred in an IED blast at Kreeri Baramulla. He was working with SOG and since 98 not a single person coming in our home for helping. Since 1998 my mother’s SRO file is at DC office Baramulla Kashmir. They are not helping,” Tanvir has tweeted.

In another tweet he says that his father has sacrificed his life for the nation and their family is staying in a hut with no source of income. “Whoever loses his life in stone-pelting gets Rs 5 lakhs but my father who sacrificed his life for India, no compensation to his family was provided,”

“I was offered the job of SPO in Jammu Kashmir Police Department that I declined. Government should give permanent job to me or my brother Nayeem Ahmed,” he demanded and added that his father has done ‘great service’ for his department.

He said that after hard efforts his file is now lying with Governor of the State. “I hope Governor will address my problem,” he said and added that if government will resort to dilly dally tactics yet again then he will protest at Jantar Mantar New Delhi to attraction the attention of Government of India. (CNS)
