SIA Raids Eight Locations in Srinagar Over 1990 Killing of Kashmiri Pandit Woman
Srinagar | August 12, 2025 (ANN NEWS) —
State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Tuesday launched a series of raids across Srinagar in connection with the 1990 abduction and killing of Kashmiri Pandit woman, Sarla Bhat.
According to officials, SIA teams, assisted by Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF, conducted simultaneous searches at eight locations in the city during the early morning hours. The raids are part of the ongoing investigation into FIR No. 56/1990 under Sections 302, 120 RPC, 3/27 IA Act, and 3/2 TADA of Police Station Nageen, now being handled by the SIA.
The case dates back to April 1990, during the peak of militancy in Kashmir, when Sarla Bhat was abducted and killed.
Locations and individuals whose premises were searched include:
- Javaid Ahmad Mir alias Nalka, S/o Ghulam Nabi Mir, R/o Chamardori, Zainakadal
- Mohammad Yasin Malik, S/o Ghulam Qadir Malik, R/o Maisuma, Srinagar (Presently lodged in Tihar Jail)
- Peer Noor-ul-Haq Shah alias Air Marshal, S/o Peer Ghulam Rasool Shah, presently residing at Illahi Bagh, Bachpora, Srinagar
- Abdul Hamid Sheikh, S/o Abdul Kabir Sheikh, R/o Danderkah, Batamaloo (Ex-JKLF Chief)
- Bashir Ahmad Gojri, S/o Ghulam Rasool Gojri, R/o Kadikadal Soklipora, Srinagar
- Feroz Ahmad Khan alias Jan Mohammad alias Jana Kachroo, S/o Ghulam Ahmad Khan, R/o Sazgaripora, Srinagar
- Ghulam Mohammad Taploo, S/o Asadullah Taploo, R/o Taploo Mohalla, Anchar
- Ghulam Mohammad Taploo, S/o Asadullah Taploo, A/P Al-Hamza Colony, Ahmadnagar, Srinagar
Officials confirmed that the searches were still in progress when last reports came in.
