Shutdown Observed In Anantnag Areas On Bashir Lashkari’s Anniversary

Anantnag: A complete shutdown was observed today in various areas of Anantnag district in South Kashmir on 1st death anniversary of Lashkar-i-Toiba militant commander Bashir Ahmad Wani alias Bashir Lashkari.

All shops, schools, educational institutions and other business establishments were closed in these areas and traffic movement was also not seen on roads.

Thousands of people from various areas visited slain militant Bashir Ahmad Wani alias Bashir Lashkari’s home at Soaf Shali village in Kokernag to pay tributes to him.

Local sources said, “taranas were played on loudspeakers in Mosques at his native village on his 1st death anniversary” adding “some posters were also seen on streets which said observe complete shutdown on Lashkari’s anniversary.”

Pertinently, Bashir Ahmad Wani alias Bashir Lashkari was killed in a gunfight with government forces at Brenth, Dailgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district along with his Pakistani associate on July 1 lasy year.
