SHRC Notice To Govt On Sopore Youth Killing
Srinagar: The State Human Rights Commission has sought reports from deputy commissioner and SSP Baramulla on a petition, seeking directions to find real facts into the killing of a civilian at Nadihal in Sopore area of the northern district.
The SHRC also sought response from Principal Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar and Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education with regard to the medical negligence that led to the youth’s death after 15 days.
On June 25, the teenage boy, Ubaid Manzoor Lone, a class 11th student, had suffered a critical bullet wound in his right thigh after BSF personnel of 149 bn opened fire upon a group of students. Ubaid succumbed after battling for life for 15 days in SKIMS Soura.
Hearing the petitions filed by International Forum for Justice Human Rights JK Chairman Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, member SHRC Dilshada shaheen issued a notice to SSP and deputy commissioner of Baramulla and asked them to submit the detailed compliance reports before the commission by or before August 14.
“The civilian killings and injuries are the outcome of irresponsible action by the security forces which is against the ethics and principles of human rights,” Untoo has submitted in the petition.
Meanwhile, the commission has sought report from SMHS authorities including Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital, Principal Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar and Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education with regard to the medical negligence that led to the instant death of Ubaid Manzoor Lone.
