SHRC Issues Fresh Notice To SSP Shopian Over Killing Of Youth On Nov 6 Last Year
Srinagar: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Tuesday issued a fresh compliance notice to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian over the killing of Shahid Manzoor Mir of Khudpora Shopian on November 6, 2018.
SHRC Chairperson, (Rtd) Justice Bilal Nazki issued notice to the two officials, asking them to submit the detailed compliance report before the commission on 29 the January 2019.
The SHRC has asked the SSP Shopian to submit its report on March 22 this year.
According to a statement issued, the petitioner, International Forum for Justice Human Rights JK, chairman, Muhammad Ahsaan Untoo said that the notice pertains to the killing of two youth including Shahid Manzoor Mir R/o Khudpora Shopian who was killed at his house and police claimed that he was an associate of another killed youth Irfan Ahmad Bhat s/o Ali Mohammad of Bundzoo Pulwama.
Police had claimed that Irfan was hiding at Shahid’s residence and Irfan had opened fire on forces and upon retaliation the duo were killed.
In its compliance report, DC Shopian had stated that according to SSP’s report that forces had received a tip off about hiding militants in Shahid’s house and in the firefight a 23 para forces personnel had received critical injuries.
It had also claimed that there was a hideout in the deceased’s house and said that Shahid was an associate of the killed militant.
