Shopian youth wins gold medal in Pencak Silat; Secures place in Asian games
Shopian: A youth from South Kashmir’s Shopian district has brought laurels to the valley by winning a gold medal in Pencak Silat.
Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat ,18, a resident of Homehuna Nagbal Shopian who has crossed his 12th class recently and preparing for NEET has won gold medal in junior weight category at Indoor stadium Srinagar and got selected for upcoming Asian Games.
Bhat said that he is very happy for winning a gold medal in the Pencak Silat game. He thanked his teacher and coach Mohammed Shafi who according to Parvaiz trained him since 2017.
“It was impossible to achieve this feat as it was my coach who introduced this new art to me,” Bhat said.
Bhat said that the encouraging achievement for him is that he has been selected for international in Asian Pencak Silat that is scheduled to be held in Singapore later this year.
“Winning gold wasn’t easy as over 2400 players from all over India participated in this event which was held from March 24-30,” he said.
Bhat said that he is hopeful that he will perform well in upcoming events in Singapore and secure his place at international level for a long time. (KNO)
