Shopian Shuts On 10th Death Anniversary Of Aasiya, Neelofar
Shopian: Normal life was crippled in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday (May 30) as complete shutdown is being observed to mark to 10th death anniversary of Aasiya and Neelofar.
All shops, educational institutions, business establishments etc are closed in Shopian district and traffic movement was also not visible on roads.
Pertinently on this day a decade ago Aasiya and her sister-in-law Neelofar were allegedly raped and then murdered.
Both went missing from their orchard on the way home on 29th May 2009 and next day their bodies were found.
Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani had also appealed people of Shopian to observe complete shutdown on May 30 on the tenth anniversary of Aasiya and Neelofar.
