Shopian Police Seize Seven Vehicles Involved in Illegal Mining; Three FIRs Registered Under Strict Action Drive

Shopian, October 15, 2025:

In a major crackdown on illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Shopian Police have seized seven vehicles, including five tractors, one tipper, and one dumper, involved in unlawful mining activities from Rambiara Nallah, Keegam, and Heerpora areas of the district.

Acting swiftly, police have registered three separate FIRs — FIR No. 218/2025 and FIR No. 217/2025 at Police Station Shopian, and FIR No. 48/2025 at Police Station Heerpora — under relevant sections of law.

Shopian Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining and have urged the public to report any such unlawful activities to curb environmental degradation and protect local resources.
