Shopian Police Conduct Raids at Houses of Jamaat-e-Islami and Hurriyat (G) Members

Continuing its intensified crackdown on elements linked with the proscribed organisations Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Hurriyat (G), Shopian Police on Monday conducted searches at multiple locations across the district in connection with various FIRs.
According to police officials, the operations were carried out after obtaining due legal sanction and were aimed at dismantling the support networks and ecosystem of the banned organisations operating in the region.
In Shopian, police conducted a search at the residence of Abdul Latief Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar, resident of Dar Mohalla Zawoora, who has remained affiliated with Hurriyat (G). The search was carried out in connection with FIR No. 09/2024 registered at Police Station Shopian.
In Zainapora, another search was conducted at the residence of Bilal Ahmad Itoo, son of Ghulam Rasool, resident of Chitragam, who has remained affiliated with the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The search was linked to FIR Nos. 98/2021 and 03/2024 registered at Police Station Zainapora.
Meanwhile, in Imamsahib, police carried out a search at the residence of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, son of Asadullah, resident of Check Sangran, who has remained associated with Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). The search was conducted in connection with FIR No. 336/1997 registered at Police Station Shopian.
Police said the searches were part of ongoing investigations to uncover incriminating materials, documents, electronic devices, or any other evidence indicating continued unlawful activities or affiliations with proscribed organisations.
Reaffirming its commitment, Shopian Police stated that it remains steadfast in acting against individuals or groups promoting or supporting the ideology of banned outfits, ensuring peace, stability, and the rule of law in the district.
