Seniors accorded warm farewell by GDC Ramgarh

SAMBA, MAY 29: Government Degree College Ramgarh today organised a Farewell Party for the outgoing batch here in the College auditorium. The day was a fiesta devoted to reminiscing of joyous moments of the years spent together with friends and teachers.

Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest on the Occasion. The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp. In her address, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra blessed the students and wished best for their future and encouraged them to never compromise with their principles and abide by the moral values and discipline they have learnt from the college. Further, she motivated the students to work hard for their upcoming examinations

The event was organized by the students of Semester 2nd and 4th of the College under the aegis of ‘MY COLLEGE MY PRIDE’ and under the guidance of the Students Welfare Committee. The day was packed with lots of fun and frolic to bid adieu to seniors. The programme was marked by cultural performances including singing, dancing etc. The students performed on the Punjabi and Hindi songs. The highlight of the event was Miss Farewell contest in which the outgoing students walked the ramp gracefully and participated in games.

Avinash Kour was  judged as ‘Miss GDC Ramgarh’ and Amanpreet Kour as ‘Miss Farewell’.

  Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Prof. Risha Kumari, Dr. Anjali Bala, Dr. Rahul Kundal, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Dr. Varinder Kour and Sanjeev Kumar  attended the programme.

GDC Kathua organises Poster Making Competition on “Chemistry in Sustainable Development”

KATHUA, MAY 29: Department of Chemistry, Government Degree College Kathua organised a poster making competition on “Chemistry in Sustainable Development”.

The Event was inaugurated by the College Principal, Prof. Seema Mir, as the Chief Guest, in presence of Prof. Rakesh Singh, Head, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Anupama Arora, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Ambica, Dr. Upasna Andotra, Dr. Roshan Lal, Dr. Nisha, Dr. Nitika and Dr. Neha.

Prof. Seema Mir, after inaugurating the Poster making competition, stressed on the need for organizing  such types of events on regular intervals. She urged the students to take keen interest in Chemistry which is one of the important fields of sciences.  Moreover, she congratulated the Convener and members of organizing team for taking an initiative and organizing the event successfully.

Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener of the event and Head Department of Chemistry, in his address, highlighted the role of chemistry in the different fields of sciences . He laid  emphasis   on interdisciplinary education which is also the motive of NEP 2020. He made the participants aware about different applications of chemistry in sustainable development. Moreover, he also discussed different chemical products that we use in our day today life.

More than 16 posters were presented by students during the competition and they were adjudged by the Jury members, Dr. Deepshikha, Head, Deptt of EVS, Dr Surya Partap, Head, Deptt of Zoology and Prof. Neha Mahajan Head Deptt of Biotechnology.

The first position was shared by Rakshit  and Arpan, students of Semester IInd, the second & third positions were bagged by Lakshmi and Nancy (semester II) respectively. Palvi Manhas, student of Sem IInd got consolation prize.

The event ended with the formal vote of thanks by Dr. Anupama Arora, Associate Professor in Chemistry.
