Second Batch Of Union Ministers To Visit J-K In April As Part Of Centre’s Outreach Programme

New Delhi: Nearly a month after visiting Jammu and Kashmir as part of the Centre’s outreach programme, the second batch of Union Ministers will visit the Union Territory in April to take stock of the developmental projects. During the visit, they will apprise the local people about the various schemes of the Central government.

Sources at the Central government said the visit of the second batch will be a follow-up of the first visit of Union Ministers in January.

During their first time visit, a number of developmental projects were inaugurated by the Union Ministers in the Valley.

Under the public outreach programme, these Union Ministers visited different districts with the objective of disseminating information about the importance of the Centre’s policies for the overall development of the Union Territory and its people along with the steps taken by the government particularly in the past five months after the abrogation of Article 370 provisions and bifurcation of erstwhile state.

After returning from their visit, these 30 Union Ministers on February 12 submitted their reports to the Home Ministry.

The sources said the second visit of Union Ministers will take place in April after the Parliament session comes to an end on April 3.

As per updates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will decide on the names of the ministers who will visit the Valley in the second batch. During the second visit, they will tour different districts across Jammu and Kashmir so that there is no overlap.

In January, the first group of 36 Union ministers visited Jammu and Kashmir in batches and toured 60 locations across the UT — 52 in Jammu and eight in the Kashmir Valley. (PTI)
