Searches, Frisking Return Srinagar After Militant Attacks
Srinagar: Security has been stepped up in and around Srinagar days after the Valley witnessed surge in grenade attacks.
Heavy deployment of security personnel in and around Srinagar has visibly increased, and barricades and security check posts have been set up at several points.
In the city center, Lal Chowk, police and CRPF soldiers established a barricade and searched vehicles. Forces stopped and searched vehicles while frisking commuters. Forces were also seen verifying identity of inmates.
Last week militants carried out five grenade attacks including one at commercial hub Lal Chowk. The attacks ahead of the January 26 has put forces on alert.
