Scuffle Erupts Between PDP and Congress Workers in Lokbawan Anantnag; Police Take Action for MCC Violation

 

A scuffle between PDP and Congress workers was reported late evening in Lokbawan, Larkipora, part of the Dooru constituency in Anantnag. Both parties have been accused of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), with the police taking cognizance of the incident.

 

 

 

 

The altercation occurred when Congress workers stopped a vehicle, bearing registration number JK03N – 6155 (Scorpio), belonging to PDP workers that was seen roaming the area around 11:00 PM. The confrontation escalated, leading to Congress workers allegedly beating the PDP members.

Shortly after the incident, the Flying Squad Team, led by Executive Magistrate Fayaz Ahmad Baba, along with Naib Tehsildars (NT) from Hakura and Sadiwara, and a police party from PP Dialgam, headed by SHO Saddar Anantnag, arrived at the scene to control the situation.

 

 

 

 

Visuals from the spot showed members from both parties pushing each other, shouting slogans, and waving party flags. The Executive Magistrate and police officers were seen trying to bring the situation under control. The PDP vehicle was seized by the Executive Magistrate, although nothing suspicious, aside from party flags, was found in the vehicle.

 

 

 

 

To maintain law and order and ensure the smooth functioning of the democratic process, the vehicle was impounded, and the matter is now under investigation for further action.
