Rotary club Jammu organizes function to felicitate martyrs families;    distributes bicycles among 43 NoK of martyrs

Jammu, January 08: A function to felicitate families of Police martyrs was held today at Rotary Bhawan Jammu. Forty three next of kin of Police Martyrs & one specially challenged Policeman who was injured while fighting terrorists  was felicitated.
 Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh was the Chief Guest, Shri Kuldeep Khoda Ex-DGP J&K was Guest of Honour. The function was presided over by Dr Dushyant Choudhary, Rotary Governor.
At the very outset, two minutes silence was observed to remember the martyrdom of JK Police fallen Heroes.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP paid rich tributes to the JK Police martyrs and said J&K Police has made a name for itself. Because of its martyrs our work is being acknowledged locally as also at the national level.  “I am proud to be the leader of this brave force which is ever ready to take on any challenge & protect its people. I could feel the pain of families of martyrs as I am the one who is the first to shoulder the mortal remains of our fallen heroes”, the DGP said.  JK Police is working day in and day out to protect our people, he added.
DGP,J&K appreciated the efforts of Rotary Club and its partners for felicitating the families of JK Police bravehearts.  He said that doing anything for the families is just a token of love and respect that one could show for the bravehearts who sacrificed their lives in protecting the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.  DGP later distributes bicycles among the nest of kin of martyrs.
Shri Kuldeep Khoda Ex-DGP,J&K while speaking on the occasion said that organizing such an event is an opportunity to remember and pay our tributes to the martyrs. Remembering the martyrs of J&K Police he said that the ultimate sacrifice that anybody can make is the sacrifices of his life. J&K Police on its own has taken a lot of initiatives for the families of martyrs but when civil society does anything for them puts across a different message, he added.
ADGP headquarters Shri M.K Sinha while speaking on the occasion expressed his deep and sincere gratitude to the families of martyrs and said that it is actually the saga of sacrifice of JK Police martyrs  because of which the presidential color was conferred on JK police which we are wearing with so much of pride today. He said that it is indeed an honour to be part of any function in which martyrs are not only recognized by the members of the force but also by the civil society. He said that under the able guidance of DGP J&K, Police Headquarters has been doing a lot of welfare activities for the families of martyrs. He also threw light on some of the recently taken initiatives for NoK of martyrs.
ADGP Coordination, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the Rotary club Jammu for its contribution in many activities in Jammu and Kashmir. He extended his gratitude to the club for acknowledging and remembering the J&K Police martyrs.
Dr. Dushyat Choudhary ,  District Governor Rotary Club while speaking on the occasion said that Rotary will continue this yearly program of Honouring Police Martyrs families to underline the message that society recognises the supreme sacrifices of policemen.
In his welcome address Shri Ashok Kumar Gupta IGP retd said that it was due to saga of huge sacrifices that Presidential Colour was presented to J&K Police long back & Police continues to make supreme sacrifices valiantly. He also spoke about the different situations in which J&K Policemen have been working.  He thanked DGP J&K for gracing the event.
SS Wazir ADGP (retired) R L Bharti IFS former member PSC, MK Bhardwaj President Bar Association, Gaurav Gupta Secretary Chamber of commerce appreciated the sacrifices of Martyrs, efforts of Rotary to felicitate them continuously since last 5 years. They assured Rotary that their organisations and whole society is willing to associate with Rotary in this & such other Philanthropic activities.
Among others, the function was attended by BS Tuti IPS IGP (Headquarters) PHQ, IGsP (retd)  Shri PK Gupta IPS , Shri Ravinder Kotwal IPS, Shri Farooq Ahmed IPS, Shri MA Anjum IPS, Shri KK Gupta Chief Engineer (retd), Shri VK Gupta Chief Engineer (retd), Shri Chandan Kohli IPS SSP Jammu, Abhishek Mahajan AIG (Welfare) PHQ, AIG (Tech) PHQ, Shri Manoj Kumar Pandit Members from all sections of Society, Rotarians & Rotaryns from various clubs of Jammu .
