ReT Teachers Stage Protest, Observe September 5 As ‘Black Day’

Srinagar: Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers on Wednesday staged a protest in Srinagar to press for their demands even as they observed Teachers’ day as a “black day”.

Teachers Day is observed in India on September 5.

The teachers assembled at Sher-e-Kashmir Park and staged a protest to press for implementation of the 7th pay commission benefits.

The teachers’ protest was held under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC) president Abdul Qayoom Wani.

The protesting teachers who wore black attire and carried black flags appealed to the state government to “end to the double standards by implementing 7th pay commission.”

The police resorted to cane-charge after the protesting teachers tried to stage protest on the road leading to Lal Chowk near Polo View. (GK)
