ReT Teachers Protest In Srinagar, Demand Implementation Of 7th Pay Commission
Srinagar: Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers staged a protest in Srinagar on Monday to press for implementation of 7th pay commission and de-linking of their salary from Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
Hundreds of teachers led by chairman Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum Farooq Ahmad Tantray assembled at Press Enclave and staged a protest.
The protesting teachers said that the Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ganai had announced the implementation of the 7th pay commission in August but the “announcement has remained an announcement only.”
They also demanded regularisation, time bound promotion, delinking of their salaries from MHRD and release of pending salaries.
“These all genuine demands should be fulfilled. There should be a road map to delink our salaries from MHRD and absorb us in state budget,” said Tantray.
The protesting teachers threatened to launch a sit-in protest in winter capital Jammu from December 10 if their demands were not fulfilled at the earliest.
