Restrictions re-imposed in Kupwara after rise in Coronavirus cases

KUPWARA, July 11: Amid a surge in positive cases, the authorities in Kupwara have imposed restrictions in the district
As per the order issued by the District Magistrate, it reads, “Whereas the District has seen a sharp rise in the positive cases over the past days and a few cases have also been reported from the area outside the containment zones including town area of Kupwara and Handwara.
Whereas, Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara vide his No. ADDH/20/12818 dated 11-07-2020 has also been recommended prohibitory measures in consultation with Medical Superintendent District Hospital Handwara to contain the spread of Virus.
Therefore in view of the above, and in the exercise of powers conferred under Section 144 CRPC and Section 34 Disaster Management Act, it is hereby ordered that “All the shops in the district including town areas of Kupwara, Handwara, and Langate shall remain closed for a period of three days w.e.f 12th and 14th July.
The rosters for the opening of shops issued by this office and by the other executive magistrate for their respective jurisdiction shall also remain suspended during this period. There shall be complete restrictions on the movement of public transport including sumos and xylos within the district.
Concerned Tehsildars shall deputy Duty Magistrates at the prominent places within their respective jurisdictions to ensure the universal wearing of masks and penalizing offenders. Whereas SSP Kupwara and Handwara shall deploy special Nakas and duty personal to restrict the movement of any public transport and seize any unauthorized vehicles found plying in violation of the order.
Whereas the order shall remain in force for a period of three days w.e.f 6:00 AM on 12 th July to 6:00 AM on 15th July 202. Whereas the restrictions imposed vide this officer order dated 07-06-2020 shall remain throughout the district except with minor modification an enlisted above.
