Rape accused held after a long hunt of 7 years in Jammu
Jammu, Mar 31: A man on run for nearly seven years after he allegedly abducted and raped a minor girl was arrested, police said on Tuesday.
He had been evading arrest since a case was registered against him at Police Station Janipur in Jammu in 2019.
Sunil Bhagat was arrested in Jammu after police received specific inputs following sustained efforts, a police spokesperson said. He is a native of Doda and residing in Bari Brahmana area of Jammu.
Bhagat has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including abduction and rape, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. (PTI)
