R-Day function: Dr Farooq among only invitees
Srinagar, Jan 25 : A day ahead of the Republic day celebrations, most of the politicians here have claimed that they have not received any initiation for the functions being organized across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the major political parties in the valley said no one among them have received the initiation for the Republic day function tomorrow.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Member of Parliament and National Conference (NC) leader said that he has received the invitation for tomorrow’s function, but stated that due to Covid positive cases at home, he would not attend the function.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders when contacted said that they have no knowledge in this regard as the party headquarters remained closed for the last couple of days due to the surge in the positive cases.
Peoples Conference (PC) spokesman when contacted said that they have not received any invitation with regard to the function.
Apni Party leader informed KNO they also have not received any invitation for tomorrow’s function. CPI (M) leader and former Kulgam legislator, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has also not received any invitation for the Republic day function.
Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the main function on January 26 in Jammu while his Advisor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar will take a salute at Srinagar.
Moreover, District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons will preside over the main functions in their respective districts, according to a circular issued by the government.
Block Development Council chairpersons and Presidents of Municipal bodies shall preside over and take salute in separate January 26 functions to be held at the concerned Sub-Divisional and Municipal headquarters, the circular reads—(KNO)
