Pulwama Police arrest drug peddler; 16.5 kgs charas powder-like substance recovered
Pulwama, Nov 26: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Pulwama Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 16.5 kilograms of charas powder-like substance from his possession.
During naka checking at Newa Pulwama, a police team from Police Post Newa intercepted an individual identified as Rafiq Ahmad Shah, son of Bashir Ahmad Shah, resident of Newa Pulwama. During his personal search, 16.5 kilograms of charas powder-like substance was recovered and seized on the spot as per legal procedures. The accused was subsequently arrested.
A case under FIR No. 277/2025 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Pulwama Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the district and urged the public to share any information related to drug abuse or trafficking.
