‘Protests in UK, Pak against JKLF ban, Yasin Malik’s arrest’

Srinagar, Mar 26: The acting chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Abdul Hameed Butt on Tuesday said He said New Delhi by banning JKLF and Jamaat-e-Islami through its dint of force cannot make valiant Kashmiri people to surrender their right of freedom and self-determination.

He said protests against party ban and arrest of Chairman Yasin Malik continued with several delegations of JKLF leaders led by its diplomatic bureau chief Prof. Raja Zafar Khan in London met with UK-based All Parties Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPG) and apprised them about the prevailing situation in Jammu Kashmir.

In a statement issued to GNS, Butt said Prof. Raja Zafar was accompanied by JKLF UK zonal president Sabir Gul and senior party leader in UK Muhammad Faiz.

The delegation informed the APPG members about the real motive behind banning of JKLF by Government of India. They termed the ban as undemocratic and uncalled for, and also expressed serious concern over the arrest and PSA on Yasin Malik, Butt said.

The delegation appealed the British PM to use her office in lifting the ban on JKLF and urge India to release all the arrested political prisoners including Yasin Malik who has been heading a “purely peaceful” political organization that stands for the reunification of the entire divided State of Jammu Kashmir, Butt said adding that APPG members included Member Parliament and Shadow Minister Afzal Khan and Lord Qurban Hussain.

The JKLF acting chairman said the party in Paris led by its branch president Mushtaq Pasha held a protest demonstration near Eiffel Tower against the ban and arrest of Malik.
