Pr. Secy Jal Shakti visits Poonch, took comprehensive review JJM in district
POONCH, MAY 30: Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Ashok Kumar Parmar today visited district Poonch and took comprehensive review of flagship scheme Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in a meeting here.
The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson, Tazim Akhter, DDC Vice Chairperson, Ashfaq Ahmed Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet, ADDC, Abdul Sattar, ADC, Dr. Basharat Hussain, CPO, Madan Lal, ACD, Abid Hussain Shah, SE Hydraulic,.Jasvinderpal Singh, ACP, Shafiq Mir, Xen Jal shakti, Rajesh Sethi, DIO, Vishaldeep Chandan, CEO Education, Abdul Majid and other concerned officers besides all DDC/BDC/ PRIs were present in the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, the Principal Secretary asked the officers to make dedicated efforts for providing prompt and hassle free services to the general public and also take effective measures to redress their genuine grievances timely to mitigate their sufferings.
Stressing on the better implementation of the welfare schemes and programs on ground, he directed them to publicize welfare initiatives and ensure that maximum people are covered under the schemes and no eligible beneficiary is left out from availing the schemes.
During the meeting, number of issues and demands were highlighted by DDC, BDC and PRIs like functioning of lift irrigation projects especially in border areas like Mankote Balakote, Kankote, Gursai etc., rationalizing tendering process so that JJM can be implemented in a time bound manner, repair of old defunct handpumps, implementation of the JJM, scarcity of water, regularisation of daily wagers in Jal Shakti Department, tap water connections for uncovered schools, and other issues were discussed in detail.
The Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the issues and assured them that the Government is serious about resolving all the issues in a time-bound manner.
Regarding the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, he asked the public representatives and officers to make dedicated and collective efforts and also to rope in self help groups for the effective implementation of the program in the district.
Stating that women are the most sufferers in case of water scarcity, he asked for roping in SHGs for the better and effective implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission on ground.
Further, the Principal Secretary asked the officers of the Jal Shakti Department to keep a close liaison with the PRIs and discuss all the schemes approved under JJM in their areas with them.
He also advised the PRIs to ensure the proper monitoring of all the developmental activities being carried out in their areas and make sure that quality is maintained while executing work on developmental projects.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner briefed the meeting in detail about the physical and financial status of flagship schemes of JJM in the district.
