Policeman killed in Pulwama operation awarded Kirti Chakra Posthumously by President of India.

His wife received the award from president Ram Nath Kovind in Delhi

Srinagar,23 Nov :- A Jammu and Kashmir policeman, head constable Abdul Rashid Kalas, who died in an encounter in Pulwama has awarded(posthumously) with Kirti Chakra the second highest peacetime gallantry decoration by the President of India on Tuesday.
Rasid’s  wife Tasleema Begum received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind in Delhi
Abdul Rasheed Kalas a resident of Gabra village of Karnah north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was a part of anti militant operation in pinglina area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on18 feb 2019 and got killed by militant.
Rashid Kalas has served in the police department for almost 11 years Kalas leaves behind young widow and two minor sibling
Gallantry Awards honour military personnel who have displayed conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme devotion to duty. As the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, The president  conferred two Kirti Chakras (one posthumous) one Vir Chakra and 10 Shaurya Chakras (two posthumous) at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Kovind also conferred 13 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, two Uttam Yudh Seva Medals and 24 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals for distinguished service of an exceptional order.
