Police seizes illicit timber in Baramulla, accused arrested
May 20: Police have seized illicit timber in Baramulla and arrested an accused person involved in the commission of crime.
A police party of Police Station Bijhama led by SHO PS Bijhama under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shri Shokat Ali-JKPS, arrested a timber smuggler namely Mohd Shafi Dar son of Ab Razak Dar resident of Lachipora-A Bijhama, involved in cutting down illicit forest timber and selling at higher rates. On his disclosure, 10 Illicit wooden planks of forest timber were recovered in Bijhama. He was shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijhama and investigation has been initiated.
The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold. Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police have resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal & anti-social activities.
