Police registered case over fake picture showing youth joining militant ranks in Shopian
Shopian, June 28: Police on Sunday registered a case over circulation of a fake photo showing tenth standard student announcing his joining militant outfit Ansar Gazawai Hind in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
Reports said that photograph of the youth, wearing pheran and raising index finger (meaning Allah is one, there is no god but Allah), started doing rounds on the social media sites.
The photograph also depicted details of the youth such as his name (withheld); residence: Reban; active date: 28/06/2020; joined: Ansar Gazawai Hind. However, the picture did not show youth carrying any weapon etc.
Soon police started the investigation which according to a police officer of the district revealed that the picture was forged and possibly pointed out to mischief by somebody. “The investigation revealed that the youth was with his family,” the officer said. Later his father brought him to the police station to confirm it.
“A case FIR No. 82/2020 Under section 500 IPC and 66c IT Act has been registered in Police Station Zainapora,” the officer said, “Further investigations are underway. Everything will be brought to fore.” (GNS)
