Police register case in Baramulla after video of assault on elderly man goes viral
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Police on Thursday detained a man for allegedly assaulting his elderly father in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Police said they have taken cognizance of the video circulating on social media showing an individual assaulting an elderly man, reportedly his father, which shows an individual assaulting an elderly man, reportedly his father.
Upon noticing the video, police said a case was registered at Police Station Tangmarg under relevant sections of law.
The accused has been identified as Manzoor Ahmed, a resident of Hajibal, Tangmarg, who has been detained by the police, they said.
Police said further investigation into the matter is underway and strict legal action shall follow as per law.
Reiterating its commitment, police said any form of violence, especially against senior citizens, will be dealt with firmly and urged the public to promptly report such incidents. — (KIMS)
