Police recover over 7.9 Kg contraband substance in Pulwama, one arrested
Pulwama, Jan 19: Police on Monday recovered a large quantity of contraband substance during patrolling and naka checking in Nikloora area of Pulwama district and arrested one person in this connection.
A police party from Police Station Litter intercepted a suspicious individual at Nikloora. During the search, police recovered one nylon bag containing 7.545 kilograms of charas patri and another nylon polythene bag containing 450 grams of charas powder from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Rashid Sheikh, son of Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh, resident of Nikloora, Pulwama. He was arrested on the spot and the recovered contraband was seized as per legal procedure.
In this regard, FIR No. 08/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Litter, and further investigation is underway.
Police said the drive against drug trafficking will continue and urged people to cooperate by sharing information related to narcotics for a drug-free society.
