Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament From July 20 At Srinagar
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police is organizing 16th edition of Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament from July 20, 2018 at Srinagar.
The tournament is being played under the aegis of J&K Football Association in memory of brave martyrs who laid their lives for the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
This was said by the Additional Director General of Police A.K Choudhary while addressing a press conference at Synthetic Turf TRC ground Srinagar.
34 teams representing different departments, organisations and associations are participating in this championship.
Officers who were present in the Press Conference included IsGP, Shafkat Ali Watali, J.P Singh, S Ahfadul Mujtaaba, and other senior police officers.
The championship was initially introduced in the year 1998 in memory of Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad Baba, the then SHO Kothibagh Srinagar who made supreme sacrifice on 31st October 1997 at Regal Chowk, Srinagar while saving the people.
Opening ceremony of the tournament will be held on July 20, 2018 at 5.00 pm.
First match of the tournament will be played between JKSRTC and Fort View FC on July 21, 2018 at Polo View.
Winning team will be given prize money of Rs. 1.00 lakh and trophy.
Runner up team will get Rs.75,000/- and a trophy.
2nd Runner up team will get Rs.50,000/- and a trophy. (KNS)
