Police Fire Warning Shots After Mob Torches 2 Houses In Chrar-E-Sharief Area Of Central Kashmir’s Budgam
Srinagar: Police on Friday used force to disperse a mob that set two residential houses in Chrar-e-Sharief town of central Kashmir Budgam district on fire over the alleged murder of a youth.
Reports said that a mob appeared in Doudkhout village of Chrar-e-Sharief this evening and set ablaze two houses belonging to Ghulam Qadir Dar.
Angry mob alleged hand of Dar’s daughter in the murder of Sameer Ahmad, whose body was found from Yousmarg Dam on Tuesday. A 12 class student, Ahmad gone missing on June 27, the reports said.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out when police reached the area to contain the situation, the reports said.
Cops lobbed tear smoke shell and fired warning shots after angry mob pelted rocks and stones at them, the reports said.
“The police vehicle was also damaged by mob. The situation in area is tense,” the reports added.
