Police file 1000 page chargesheet in Srinagar acid attack case

Srinagar, Feb 22: Srinagar Police filed the chargesheet in recent acid attack on Tuesday before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar.


The Special Investigations Team headed by Superintendent of Police, north Srinagar, Raja Zuhaib has completed the investigation and submitted chargesheet today.

 

The CJM committed the chargesheet to Sessions Court as the offences mentioned in chargeseeet warrants more than seven years’ punishment.

The chargeseet was also committed to Juvenile Justice Board for the trial of one juvenile accused in the case.

The investigations of this case were supervised by SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal.

On February 1, a youth accompanied by a juvenile had thrown acid on a 24-year-old girl in Srinagar.

“Acid attack: About 1000 page Chargesheet Filed today against 3 accused, 2 adults & 1 Juvenile in Hon’ble CJM court & JJB . Petition also filed to try juvenile as per JJ act as crime is heinous in nature & juvenile is above 16 & below 18 years. Detailed press release will follow. (sic),” tweeted J&K Police.
